SPA is the acronym for “Solus Per Aqua” from Latin word means health through water. While, aromatheraphy is the use of essential oils from plants for their therapeutic properties. Spa industry has assisted our government in RMK-9 by tourism sector. From Utusan Malaysia on 3 Nov 2006, source from Intelligent Spas research 93% from the tourist seek for spa or spa resort during their journey. To get five star status, hotel should have high class spa service. This show that, spa sector is highly demand and of course very costly.

Therefore, we come out with this set of “Home Spa” with the brand Nilam d’essence. This product package consists of bar soap, body shampoo, hand and body lotion, massage oil and perfume. All of the products contain active ingredient from combination of various types of pure essential oil with patchouli (nilam) as a base, Centella asiatica extract, and vitamin E. With this body set, everyone can have their own home spa with a small expenditure compared to have spa at any spa centre or hotel.

Patchouli is chosen as our base active ingredient plus Centella asiatica extract because we want to introduce our local plant which have very good healing properties. According to Berita Minggu on 17 august 2003, one from nine Malaysian suffers from mental disorder and one from four Malaysian facing mental depression problems. So, this is the right time for the products base on patchouli oil can penetrate the market to solve this problem because patchouli is well-known with its therapeutic action as an anti-depressant. Besides that, combination of vitamin E and Centella asiatica make this product very special because its antioxidant property can delay ageing process and as moisturizer agent for skin elasticity and vitality. Therefore, these products are complete and fulfill customer need.

The objectives of this project are to produce aromatherapy products with home spa concept at affordable price to the middle and upper class customers. Besides, we are intended to introduce the local herbs (patchouli and Centella asiatica) in our products to the international market.
